Consider the below when designing a fixture for your scanner. CAD files (STEP) for the two scanner versions are available at the page bottom.
Room for cables at the back
The fixture needs enough room for the cables at the back to avoid damage to the connectors and allow for easy access, preferably from above. We recommend installing a hatch for this space to keep all cables safely tucked away and easily accessible.
Room for accessing the handles
For ease with lifting and carrying the scanner, the scanner has “handles” on the right and left underside. The fixture should have some room on both sides of the scanner for access to the handles should the scanner need to be lifted out of the fixture. These access points can be concealed behind a hatch for a cleaner look.
Breathing room around the entire scanner
Due to movements created from everyday use, you should plan for a 5 mm clearance around the entire scanner to avoid damage to the base plate and camera towers.
Lighting considerations
Use non-reflective materials for the fixture and surrounding areas to avoid light glares disturbing the cameras. The scanner works best with even and soft lighting.
STEP files
STEP files of the Volumental foot scanner, including space required for cable/handle clearance are linked below.
Note that there are two versions of the scanner, distinguishable by serial number (Vandra-xxxx):
Serials below 4000 are Vandra 1.0
Serials above 4000 are Vandra 2.0
